In my opinion, Rush's comments only served to publically reconfirm that he is an enormous asshole. But you be the judge;
A political ad in which a Parkinson's-afflicted Michael J. Fox talks about stem cell research was criticized Monday by conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who asserted that Fox was "either off his medication or acting" while filming the commercial. [cited story]
I think he qualifies for Ignoramus of the Year.

Paul Krugman does his usual fine job of exposing the utter lack of conscience on the American political right:
Soon after the radio address, right-wing bloggers began insisting that the Frosts must be affluent because Graeme and his sister attend private schools (they're on scholarship), because…
Ted Baehr, Christian movie reviewer and propagandist, has an essay at the Worldview Weekend site where he rather brazenly accuses MIchael J. Fox and "liberal elites" of lying about stem cell research. In the process, he tells some whoppers himself.
When is a lie not a lie?
According to America's…
Lance Mannion notes that Rush "Big Pharma" Limbaugh uses words in the same way creationists do: as weapons. From Mannion (italics mine):
Fox's offense was making campaign commercials for candidates who will vote to expand and fund stem cell research, but Limbaugh doesn't care about that. What he…
We could just reclassify all the medical descriptions according to Rush's personal beliefs. For example, Tourette's Syndrome could be 'just a discipline problem'. All mental ailments would be 'suck it up, it's in your head'. Basically anything except having a leg in a cast would be suspect. Notably, an Oxycontin drug addiction would be 'only a few pills for a back problem'.
Only Rush Limbaugh could stoop so low as to cast aspersions on someone's genuine, troubling, and well-established disability. Thanks Rush for setting back respect for people with disabilities by, oh, a millenia. You sir, are an asshole indeed.
I hope that Rush Limbaugh is reincarnated into a tremor in his next life.
