Make A Difference Today

A reader sent a link to a movie that she wanted me to see -- she said it made her think of my blog and all she has learned as a result of reading it. When I watched the film, I was surprised because I had no idea that writing a blog made a difference for anyone, except for me. Because I do love writing and I do love an audience for my writing.

Thanks, Diane.

More like this

She just bought two pairs of new shoes.
Yesterday was the funeral for my great-aunt Mildred, known within the family as "Auntie" (first syllable "ont" not "ant"), who fell and bumped her head last Friday, and just never woke up.
I'd like you to meet a friend of mine. Her name is Suzette. She's a very nice girl. She likes to talk - something, it turns out, she's very good at.
Today, I had to take care of some cats for a vacationing NYCer, so this meant that I had to brave the snow, slush and Lake Erie-sized mud-puddles in the process.

Your blog has made a real difference for me too. Being autistic, having a son who is also autistic, has made me very aware of the issues surrounding mental illness and disorders. Your story of your dealings with bipolar disorder and the hell you have been through touched me deeply having been almost as depressed at times in my life as you were. My only wish is that there was more I could do for you. Your strength and perseverance through your ordeal really encouraged me too. Your openness about it was really remarkable. I thank you for all of that.

Yeah, that film made me cry (What a sissy-boy, truck-driving, computer graphics geek I am!).

thanks Jeff. i am actually working on a piece about bipolar disorder, thanks to another reader who sent me the research papers to refer to. it should be posted sometime this coming week, if all works out as it should (one learns to be conservative regarding what they are capable of doing when they are battling a mood disorder).

Your blog has made a difference to me, too, Hedwig.

Your love of birds and dedication to teaching have had a big impact on me.

Thank you for that.

My mother lived with a similar condition to yours but she was never able to accomplish close to what you have. You should be very proud of yourself, finding ways to cope with the extra large helping of challenges life has given you in order to educate yourself and share that knowledge with others.

I hope you continue to pursue your writing and look forward to your first novel.

*big cyber hugs*

I'm glad you are still with us.
