I just wanted to thank you, dear readers, for showing me that you are thinking of me by sending me books -- many of which were sent anonymously. So many books arrived on the same day that the post man decided it was Christmas in April for me! I received the following books from you this week;
Living Terrors: What America Needs to Know to Survive the Coming Bioterrorist Catastrophe by Michael Osterholm and John Schwartz.
Germs: Biological Weapons and America's Secret War by Judith Miller, Stephen Engelberg, and William Broad.
Biohazard: The Chilling True Story of the Largest Covert Biological Weapons Program in the World by Ken Alibeck and Stephen Handelman.
(As you can tell, I like reading about viruses, bacteria and germ warfare)
Genome by Matt Ridley.
Knowledge of Angels by Jill Paton Walsh.
I also received a wonderful book from my good friends at Houghton-Mifflin to review on my blog; The Singing Life of Birds: The Art and Science of Listening to Birdsong (complete with CD full of birdsong) by Donald Kroodsma.
I am currently finishing a most excellent book that I will soon review on my blog; Vaccine: The Controversial Story of Medicine's Greatest Lifesaver by Arthur Allen.
Additionally, I am currently editing a dissertation that explores how American domestic and foreign policy was affected by the expansion and modernization of the American navy between 1880 and 1910.

Well, that'll keep you out of mischief for a few days.
If you're not sick of it by the time you've finished, will you write a post about the subject of the dissertation? Like many theses it sounds fascinating in a random sort of way.

With all those books you'll have to add a bookshelf to your wish list :o)
I noticed that the "Bsava Manual of Psittacine Birds (BSAVA Manual Series)" in your wish list is the 1996 edition. There is a 2005 edition that is probably better.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention.
The "An Introduction to Biological Evolution" in your list is the 2004 edition, There is a 2007 edition that came out in January. It is the same price.
Bob: the diss is interesting, but not that interesting! sorry, but i am not going to be a crowd-pleaser this time.
Chris: all updated. thanks for mentioning it!
Great news all! We're so very happy for you!
