Wow, surprise, surprise!
I just discovered that Living the Scientific Life was nominated for one of the Koufax Awards, in the category "Most Deserving of Wider Recognition". This category is defined as being for writers who consistently deliver, yet don't receive the recognition they deserve.
Of course, I think my blog deserves this award, but there are a bazillion other very fine blogs nominated too, so chances are, it will merely be an electron blip across the screen of the blogosphere, as it always has been with the Koufax Awards. However, that said, if you would like to vote for my blog in this informal contest, keep checking in here for more information (winning certainly would look good on my CV, and would keep my potential future colleagues from judging my writing too harshly). I will keep an eye on the process and will notify you when they start accepting votes so you all can run right over there and vote for this blog!

Dear GrrlScientist:
You surely do get my vote for 2006 Koufax Awards. I recognize and admire your depth of intelligence and ability to tackle the wide range of materials at ease. Your energy and dedication you pour into these pages, and your sound moral compass as to the way you look at the life on Earth are all well reflected for all to see. Just hang in there and do your work, and know that you do have your followers.
Truly,
AriSan
wow, AriSan, you are very kind. thank you!
Silly me, I was looking for "GrrlScientist" in the list and they have you as "Living the Scientific Life".
I'll remember that when the voting opens.
Can we vote more than once?
not sure about how many times you can vote, but i'd bet you can vote more than once if it isn't blatantly blatant that you've done so. ;)
You will definitely get my vote. What a great blog you write.
Congratulations! You have my vote! That's some stiff competition, too - you are in excellent company!
Whether you can vote more than once depends on what sort of voting system they have in place. I'm sure they will have some sort of safeguard.
The trouble with the "most deserving" category is that there are a few relatively prominent blogs in there (e.g., Orcinus), plus one Kos satellite (Street Prophets). They might crowd out the smaller blogs when it comes time for voting.
How did richarddawkins.net get on the list?
Hardly an unknown or rarely visited site.
