Huh? The Dove Self Esteem fund?

"We have to plaster you with stuff, and then photoshop you before you will look any good".

And anyway, weren't her looks intelligently designed?

Bob

Gross. They took a good looking woman and rendered her into a supernatural freak. Where is the 'beauty' after they erased her face with makeup? The subsequent distortions from the original proportions only made her freakier.

Why women buy into this nonsense is a mystery to me. They are challenged by a cartoonish freak face and somehow think that's how a woman should look, and then the next bit of logic, however that works, is that the less a woman looks like the 'ideal' the more of the company's products she must buy.

Real women have freckles, and they're cute.

The woman looked far better before her make-over.

However, call me a bit cynical, but isn't Dove saying: buy are crap and you'll like yourself. As opposed to buy are crap and you'll look pretty.

I think you all are missing the point. The people at Dove are saying that this is nonsense. They did not do the billboard for one of their products-they are demonstrating how our perception of beauty has been distorted by the entire beauty industry- from skin products to clothing to erotic photography. Dove's motto is "love the skin You're in." Go to this link for more info. http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.com/supports.asp?section=campaign&id=93

And I don't work for Dove. I sell copy machines and bbq sauce!

Jasons right. They were making a point of the stupidity of the beauty/fashion industry. Made my glad my wife and daughter don't wear makeup.
