Female raccoon, Procyon lotor, named "Brownie", who lives in Central Park, NYC.
Image: Bob Levy, author of Club George. [wallpaper size].
This sweet image is a Christmas/New Year's gift from one of my readers and long-time friends, Bob Levy, to me and to all of you!
The photogrpaher writes; I have been saving this image made last March as my Christmas and News Years present to you. I consider it to be the cutest of the cute from my "Almost-too-cute-for-words" file. I call this Raccoon Brownie because her fur is streaked with bands of light brown one of which you can readily see on the nape of her neck if you look between her ears. She is a single working mother of two cubs who always manages to look like a million bucks whenever I encounter her. I suppose someone somewhere could resist this image but I don't know who it might be. Enjoy the picture and as you do know that it perfectly represents my very best wishes to you and your readers in the coming year.

Another superb shot, Bob Levy!
You provide precious slice of nature not far, but from the Central Park in NYC. You could go far away places to capture exotic, rarely captured images of nature, but you are right here in the urban center capturing valuable images, which tend not to be seen and discerned by too many eyes, but only by few ready, focused, learned and practiced naturalists. Keep on feeding us with your time, labor, and expertice in the new year of 2008 and beyond! Thanks.
