Fast approaching once again: The 104th Meeting of the Skeptics' Circle

Well, it's frigid indeed this weekend around Castle Orac. I need something to warm the cockles of the circuits in the deepest, darkest depths of winter, and I know just the thing: A heapin' helpin' of the best skeptical blogging out there. Fortunately, the next meeting of the Skeptics' Circle is just around the corner, scheduled to hit the blogosphere on Thursday, January 29 over at Space City Skeptics.

So, skeptical bloggers (or bloggers who want to dip their toes into the skeptical pool), fire up your computers, start tapping those keyboards, and provide the material needed to make this a great one. We don't want the burning stupid of many of the creduloids to be the only source of warmth around here.

Finally, I'm in the process of updating the Skeptics' Circle hosting schedule to accommodate a change and the addition of a couple of more hosts. (Come to think of it, I really need to update the template and the lists of past hosts too, but I don't know if I'll get to it today. Anyone who is good at Blogger template generation, your help would be welcome.)

In any case, this is a perfect time to add yet more hosts to our roll of skeptical awesomeness. ("Awesomeness"? Methinks I've been reading Skepchick too much. Actually, you can never read Skepchick too much. But you can say "awesomeness" too much.) So, if you--yes, you!--are interested in skepticism and have a blog where you write about science or skeptical topics more than just once in a blue moon, why not volunteer to host? It's fun, and it'll give you a traffic boost. Just peruse the guidelines and schedule as well as the guidelines for hosting, and then drop me a line at orac@scienceblogs.com. I'll run your blog through my patented James Randi-style BS detector to make sure you're not a closet woo trying to go all Deepak Chopra on the Circle and then, assuming you pass the test (and if you're really a skeptic, it's a pathetically easy test to pass), find you a spot on the schedule.

As a relative newcomer and lurker to this blog, I have to come out of the shadows to say that it's friggin' awesome that you used the word "Awesomeness" and I applaud its usage.

Keep up the good work! It's been a real joy reading this blog and I deeply appreciate the time you take to write it!

*returns to lurking*
