Is Clinton A PC And Obama A Mac?

About the same time I was debating which computer was the best choice, I noticed the NYTimes had an interesting take on a similar question. Well sort of. My post at Correlations is now up considering the presidential candidates' websites: Is Obama a Mac and Clinton a PC?

PC is predicted to 'win the Electoral College by historic proportions with Mac perhaps carrying Vermont'. Well, these kind of loose comparisons are fun, and I suppose like a Sara Bareilles love song, you find meaning where you choose.

As for me, while I may be enamored with my Air, politics take a lot more depth and exploration... We must LOOK CLOSER. Charismatic and articulate is all well and good, but my candidate must have a plan, real substance, and a clear direction for our country. Demonstrate your strengths and don't just tell what would matter in your presidency, show me... And you've got my vote.

So on this important day in our nation's trajectory, who's the most user friendly for our collective needs? Further, I submit this possible platform for Nader...

What do readers think?

More like this

Nader's a Nintendo. Entertaining in the 90's, but no comparison to new platforms. I'd say Bush is an Atari. Not a clue what's going on.

Nader's like Linux. We guess he has good ideas, but none of us can figure out how to get him working in the two party system ;>

Funny post. I'm a Mac user who supports Clinton.

Make it fair Sheril and Chris. Include Ron Paul in your comparison or it doesn't count! He should be given a platform too!

Ron Paul harkens back to a simpler time when we all had to make do with the technological equivalent of stone knives and bear skins...

I am repeating my comment from Correlations here too:
Our nation is so desperately hungry for an inspiration, a movement, a leader to look towards... I guess Senator Obama could fit that bill. His speaking draws you into what you need. And he does have his credentials. And I did vote for him in my primary.
However, I have been listening to the substance of what Hillary Clinton has to say, and it is making good sense with a lot of really tough situations. She's smart, strong, more than capable, has good ideas. Bill Clinton has been my obstacle. I hope that she is able to stay in this race.

Can't claim that Nader is Linux: he's not that versatile. Nader is a programmable calculator - very good at a few specific tasks, otherwise he's a paperweight.

Here are my additions: Nader is probably BSD, Ron Paul is an Amiga, and McCain is DOS. I hope the analogy doesn't hold that Hillary is a PC and Obama is a Mac. Even though Macs are way cooler, there are a lot more PCs around. I think a better analogy would be Hillary is a Zune and Obama is an iPod.

Obama and Macs do share the property of being featured on the Stuff White People Like website.

Whatever you think of either by themselves, when forced to choose... well it depends on the choice. If you need to get shit done, Clinton and the PC. If you need to preen in front of others, or if you want to pick up BoBo girls, then sport the Mac and Obama bumpersticker.
