Something to watch out for

Today I had the pleasure of giving an interview to a local NPR radio station about the infamous Hesperopithecus, and I'll provide you all with a link as soon as the feature is up. I was a little bit nervous, but I think I did alright.

[As an aside, if things have been a little light on here lately it's because this past week has been, in no uncertain terms, hellish. Between midterms, being sick, writing a few pages of my book every night, and still fighting the university to let me major in evolutionary anthropology, I've been feeling a little drained. Spring break is coming up soon, though, and although I have no actual plans it will be something of a relief compared to the present chaos.]

Has it really been over a month since I last worked on my book? That's what the calendar tells me. Between the cat eviscerating the keyboard of my laptop, said laptop being stolen, midterms, and other activities, I haven't done much of anything since March 9. Last night, for example, I intended to…
Saturday night, after returning from dinner with friends, I opened the door to my apartment and let my wife in. As I fumbled with the string of icicle lights that run around the room to provide a little illumination, she said "I'll turn on the computer.... the computer isn't here!" Before I could…
Things have been pretty busy lately; between schoolwork, my job, and reading I've been booked up over the past few weeks, making my blogging a little less prolific than I'd normally like. Here's a quick rundown of some recent personal news, though, that either didn't fit into anything else I wrote…
Hi! My name is John. I've got a PhD in evolutionary biology, and I've spent much of the past decade writing about evolutionary ideas, as applied to everything from literary criticism, to language, to anti-terror policy, and even on occasion to biology. And I've got a confession - I've never read…

I feel your pain, brother. Being sick sucks, fighting a university really sucks, and I can only imagine that writing a book is a lot of work. I have missed your uber-posts, though.

Congrats on the NPR interview, sir!

Hearty congratulations on the NPR interview - very excited to hear it. Don't worry about being nervous - this should be the start of a long career of supra-blog media communications about science.

Hang in there - we've all been sick and busy like the dickens in these parts.

Congratulations on your interview! That's fantastic!

Sometimes, the best breaks are the ones where you have absolutely nothing planned whatsoever. Sometimes, you just need to sit and breathe.
