I have been out and about for most of the day and have not had much time to write. In lieu of a real post, here is a photograph of an Amur leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis) I took just this afternoon at the Turtleback Zoo in Essex, New Jersey.

To the best of my knowledge this animal is not involved in any breeding or conservation programs.According to LiveScience, a female Amur Leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis) was captured, examined, and released by WCS workers…

Big Cats like that leopard are some of the coolest predators in the animal kingdom. I should know, we have a number of them where I live.

I was just marveling over seeing cheetahs, as well as lions and a tiger, last weekend as well. The cheetah meowed at us, not unlike our household cat when he loses his toys under the refrigerator. I had no idea they could/would make that type of noise.

Wonderful photo of one of my favorite big cats. Do you know about Big Cat Rescue (www.bigcatrescue.org) in Florida? They save big cats from abusive situations (people who adopted cubs for pets, zoos, etc.). They are an educational sanctuary. Keep these great photos coming. Bear hugs, Frankie aka Bearmeister
