I have always loved red-winged blackbirds. The red is so shocking against the black. Red-winged blackbirds are everywhere in Iowa, but I haven't seen them so much in Chicago so they remind me of home.

I live in Madison near the causeway, and walk the lakeshore often, territorial redwinged males every twenty five feet along the shore.A s you walk past each male sounding their territorial warning, there are a few very aggressive ones, they will recognize particular individuals, if they think that you are a threat they will dive bomb even to the point of physical contact, however they seem to adjust to the fishermen fairly well.

Gorgeous picture; I too like red-winged blackbirds, their call is really neat. As much as I love the European blackbird (Turdus merula), I get a little bored of them sometimes!

I gotta agree. Nice photo and I love these birds.

I would more concerned about the UFO in the picture
