I Think Chris Matthews Just Called the NeoCons Wimps

One of the implicit assumptions regarding Iraq and the whole militarization of U.S. society is that the bellicose neocons are manly, and those of us who opposed invading the wrong country the Iraq War were wimpy or 'girly'. This is one of the oldest tricks in the facist playbook: the 'feminization' of your opponent. So when Chris Matthews says this, I'm starting to think the wheel really has turned:

We've killed 50,000 Iraqi's in a war that was supposed to be a two-day wonder. When are we going to notice that the neocons don't know what they're talking about. They're not looking at this country's long term interest. They're bound up in regional and global ideology and they have had no experience, I'll say it again, in even a school yard fight. They don't know what physical fighting is all about. They went to school and were intellectuals but they want our government to be their big brother. I don't get it. I don't know why we keep falling for it. And the president, you say, is he free of these guys or not?

I think the Mandarin Class is starting to realize that the Chicken Little neocons are the wimps, not those who opposed George's Excellent Iraqi Adventure.

From last night's Hardball: MATTHEWS: OK. I want to get to your issue about mine-resistant equipment over there and armage (ph) equipment over there. But let me ask you this, first of all. Rudy Giuliani--he seems to get away with a lot of factual mistakes. He was on David Letterman the other…
Former enthusiastic neocon supporters running for cover heroically deploying towards a rearward area. Perhaps it's just human nature, but I've always disliked Johnny-Come-Latelys. It's never made sense to me how those of us who figured out that the Iraq War was going to become a pandimensional…
In fact I'm not quite as certain of the Right Thing as my headline suggests; but if I'm going to nail my colours to the mast in advance of the UK's parliament's probable vote next week, I may as well be definite. It puts me with Jeremy Corbyn and against most of the UK pols. I don't feel involved…
I am often heard complaining that reporters, by and large, are lapdogs, not watchdogs. They sit there day after day, press conference after press conference, and dutifully report what they're told without ever bothering to tell you what they know and we all should know - that what we're being told…

"And the president, you say, is he free of these guys or not?"

The president IS one of these guys ... except for the "intellectual" part.

The girls who drive the big SUV's, the tough guy in the Hummer or the Escalade, can generally be expected to be compensating for their deficiencies, at least as they perceive them.

Of course it's wise to remember that Chris Matthews is dumb as a doorpost, even when he's right, which is only when he doesn't have one of those same neocons sitting in front of him so he can kiss their ass. If you put the IQs of Tweety and Wolf Blitzer together you still wouldn't make it up to two on a log scale (base ten; I'll give them that much).

They're starting to realize nothing but the political end game.

These guys knew W's "war record" and the only thing that mattered was obfuscating it. They aren't serious in the way we normally define the term, but they're serious as a heart attack when they want to blow shit up and kill things.
