One of those compromises: the $420 billion of U.S. debt held by China. Don't the Chinese know that Republican Vice President Dick Cheney declared "Reagan proved deficits don't matter"? Maybe decifits do matter after all....

(and, boy, wouldn't it be nice to have increased access to all of that natural gas too?)
