Yes, I Really Did Use This Slide in a Professional Talk

Lest there be any doubt that I'm not as nuts in real life as I am on the blog, here's a slide I used yesterday during a full-blown fancy-schmancy professional talk:

Just saying.

For context, read this post (IT HAZ SCIENTISMZ!!).

More like this

Last fall, most of the Oxford Biochemistry Department moved into a fancy-schmancy new building (imaginatively named "New Biochemistry"). A few of us stayed behind (have you ever tried to move a 6-magnet NMR facility?), and--to be totally honest--I can't say that I'm too disappointed about this.
The NCSE is an excellent organization, and I've frequently urged people at my talks to join it.

The html is broken.

excuse previous attempts at including the image in my post but somehow, SB doesn't allow it in the comments.

I regularly use 'happy face'/'sad face' clip-art in my presentations. Sometimes simple and silly really is the most effective way of getting your message across :)

Nothing like a little Lolcats to spice up a talk. I love doing things like this. Inside jokes during a talk can make the presentation a lot more fun for the speaker especially if 1 or 2 people are in on the humor.
