I am not usually the type to put pictures of cute animals up. I leave that to Cute Overload. I don't really even like animals. (I know...shameful coming from a biologist.)

I have been trying to understand the peculiar popularity of these posts about sharp-clawed carnivores called "cats", and near as I can tell it has something to do with the property of cuteness.

What's the problem Paul H. Morris brought up? Was it really WHY we find the children of any kind so adorable?
As for me it rather looks like the hen-and-egg problem. The question is: what was first (fat on belly or love for our offsprings), not whether it influences on our emotions (as we agree it does).
And, to be honest, what is the question for? Even if I know 'why' I still find babies very cute.
