I was trying to avoid weighing in on this one, but blogorrhea always wins.
I won't bother rehashing the details of the imbroglio---if you don't know, well, you've been sleeping. Go on...google "pharyngula cracker"...I can wait.
OK, now that you've caught up, here's my two cents.
I'm conflicted…
This is beyond absurd.
A young woman in Oklahoma-- her class valedictorian, going to college this fall on a full ride-- is being denied her high school diploma because of this:
Nootbaar says, “Her quote was, when she first started school she wanted to be a nurse, then a veterinarian and now that…
Start by installing a madman as president, then invade another country. Pretty soon, you get a soldier waterboarding his daughter:
An Army sergeant who served in Iraq for 15 months has been restricted to his Washington military base after being accused of waterboarding his 4-year-old daughter…
While I am on vacation, I'm reprinting a number of "Classic Insolence" posts to keep the blog active while I'm gone. (It also has the salutory effect of allowing me to move some of my favorite posts from the old blog over to the new blog, and I'm guessing that quite a few of my readers have…

Her blog just got the Pharyngula Effect.
I'm trying not to think of adolescence, computers, and the internet. My 4-yr old is quite adept at opening a browser and finding the Disney Cars website and the My Little Pony games site. Of course, I have a couple of icons to help... but the thought of her with her own blog....
I'm so keeping that. The 9-orbits child just evolved from a content-to-go-outside kidlet to a fullblown tween who must use the phone every day. I quake with fear. Bravos to skatje!
That's great :)
At least it got away from the speedboats!
