Photography question--is there any way to take photographs with a digital camera without using your hands? I'm thinking something like a foot-operated cable release, if such a thing exists, but there may be other approaches.

I'm going to take a taxidermy class, and I'd like to set up a tripod for photos documenting the learning process. I don't want to touch the camera directly after touching the unfinished specimen, but I'd prefer not to waste gloves going back and forth between the camera and the specimen any more than I have to, either.

It occurs to me there must be a lot of people here who've been there (dissection + photography simultaneously), and I'm wondering what solutions exist? I've tried googling with some terms that occurred to me, and they've led nowhere.

SO WHO IS THE CRAZIEST? Scientology nuts like Tom Cruise, or DI wackjobs Luskin or Dembski?

Tom? If you are out there, and can stop bouncing on the couch, please respond. It is of paramount importance that you respond in English, not gibberish.

Casey? If you are done for the day making up bald-faced lies, please respond. Why should we believer your lies more than Tom's?

Dr. Buffalo Bill? If you can tear youself away from all the rigorous ID testing going on in your lab, why are you less crazy that Tom?

Jackie Mason sues Jews for Jesus

It seems they are using his name and picture in a promotional pamphlet for JforJ, EVEN THOUGH HE IS NOT A MEMBER or in any way affiliated with their organization. And get a load of this:

Susan Perlman, a spokeswoman for Jews for Jesus, said the pamphlet was "good-natured."

Wow, the Carnival of Feminist Science Fiction and Fantasy Fans! That's a pretty tightly-focused Carnival. It's specificity reminds me of a gig I did as a mobile DJ in the 1980s, The Annual New York Gay & Lesbian Alcoholics Anonymous Christmas Dance.

J-Dog, Scientology gets my vote. L. Ron Hubbard was a wacko of biblical proportions and Scientology reflects this.

digital SLRs typically support an IR remote, if that helps. It's probably a little better than a wired release.

In another posting SteveC wondered about the "Rogue's Gallery" album (actually 2 discs) of sea/pirate chanties. Ignoring the fact that if you want an electronic copy you should avoid the iTunes version (they eliminate the songs sung by Bono for some reason; Audio Lunchbox includes them in its MP3 version), it is well worth getting. I confess I don't like all of the tracks, but that's a matter of taste; I like the tracks that more or less sing the songs in a folk/traditional style. Some of the tracks try to be a bit more "creative" which I don't think quite works. Still, I think I like about 75% of the tracks.

J-Dog: My sister (clinical psychology student) suggests that Mr. Cruise is actually undermedicated, whence it might not be entirely his fault, in which case the ID guys are crazier because their wackiness is more voluntary. Of course this runs into the old problem of how one accounts for being responsible for giving up one's responsibility ...
