Carnivalia, and an open thread

I'm in the Middle Ages, where we don't have computers, and it's a real pain to have to hire a wizard to send these messages to the internet. You'll have to talk amongst yourselves and peruse these fascinating carnivals without me.

The Tangled Bank

The next Tangled Bank will be at Balancing Life on Wednesday. Send those links in to me or host@tangledbank.net. The list of future hosts is also shrinking, so if you have a blog and think you'd be interested in hosting, volunteer!

It's Friday! I have no classes today, so this is the day where I desperately struggle to catch up with the backlog; it also happens to be the day we're hosting a party at our house (you're invited: 5:30, my place, across the street from the university; everyone who is anyone will be there). Here's something that's good for a laugh. Did you guys know that evolutionists are racists? Yep! Just click on the evolution link and prepare to be dazzled by the amount of bullshit that can be contained in six little comic book pages. The people behind this want people to buy these to distribute them to lost teenagers in public schools. I was born a cynic so I think that they are targeting the public schools hoping that there will be resistance to it and they can go on Fox and whine about how persecuted they are and how evil atheists are to them. I only read one other one, the one about homosexuality. That's nutty enough but the evolution one is, believe it or not, nuttier.

Has anyone checked out the "Oceans are Part of the World" ad on the right column of Pharyngula? I normally don't click on ads but somehow I accidentally did today. And what a pleasant surprise! They have games, information for parents and teachers, and a "Help the Ocean" section. Lots of good links can be found there.

A wizard? Dang it, Myers, how many times do I have to tell you you go to a seer for that sort of thing? Not only are wizards more expensive, they don't have the training for crystal to Internet communications. The wizard track just doesn't cover that portion of thaumatology sufficiently.

Wouldn't a map be better?
