we have a Roomba, 2nd generation, which works great in the smaller rooms, or it would if we didn't have books piled everywhere, interspersed with occasional toys, cats and laptop accessories
As a parent of a newly mobile one-year-old, I have a can't-fail suggestion for a toy product that would fuse two popular technologies: realistic infant simulators (baby dolls that cry, wet themselve, etc.) and vacuum-cleaning robots.
Now that is a leap forward!

Haha! I have to try that with my Roomba now. Presently it is just a plain, old floor cleaner (can't really call it a vacuum because it doesn't use a vacuum to suck up the dust and dirt).
As a note, the seriously rugged outdoor equipment company Husqvarna now sells a solar powered robotic lawnmower. Imagine turning that into a Pacman! It could literally eat little rodents toes and things (no bagger, though, so it could get messy).
