Key Role/Position Description:

Serve as a strategic consultant to government science and technology clients. Contribute to advancing the state-of the-art in the quantum sciences by combining strategic planning and technical analysis. Assist clients in researching and formulating ideas for new research programs. Provide expertise in assessing research proposals for technical merit and proposal objectives. Conduct background research and interface with the research community to evaluate the feasibility of new technologies. Assist with the management of high-risk research programs. Generate and present comprehensive technical briefings, technical papers, and strategic recommendations to colleagues and clients. Perform and publish original technical analysis in support of client needs.

Basic Qualifications:

PhD in physics or related field in the area of quantum information science.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Experimental quantum computing (superconducting qubits, semiconductor qubits, photonic qubits, ions, neutral atoms, etc)
  • Theoretical quantum computing (quantum algorithms, topological quantum computing, quantum error correction, quantum simulation and emulation, etc)
  • Quantum optics (key distribution, multi-photon entanglement, squeezing, imaging, non-demolition measurements)

4+ years of experience with active research

Ability to commute to Arlington, VA

Ability to obtain a security clearance

Additional qualifications:

Ability to convey complex technical ideas to specialist and general audiences in verbal, written, and graphical formats

Possession of excellent oral communication skills

Ability to apply expertise across a variety of technical problems

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
