Pat Robertson and the Dominion Meteorology Report

And now, of course, Robertson and his Christian Broadcasting Network can interpret geological events as well. On January 13, just a day after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the reigning televangelist explained why God hates Haitians:

And, you know, Kristi, something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, "We will serve you if you will get us free from the French." True story. And so, the devil said, "OK, it's a deal."

And they kicked the French out. You know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other.

After the outrage over Robertson's comments CBN censored the online video to remove their boss from the broadcast. Fortunately, Media Matters took the precaution of recording it.

Just about everyone is following the horrible news from Haiti, where they've been struck with a major earthquake causing great loss of life. I've been informed by multiple people now that Pat Robertson has announced the reason for this disaster: the Haitian people made a deal with the devil to free…
Pat Robertson said something impolitic about Haiti (like the earthquake was because they made a pact with the devil) and as result he gets a lot of hate mail. I wouldn't ordinarily reprint any of it, but it seems like the devil (aka Satan) was pretty pissed and sent him a letter (hat tip readers J…
A few weeks ago, televangelist Pat Robertson got in some righteous trouble for claiming that Haiti deserved its earthquake devastation because Haitians two hundred years ago "sw[ore] a pact with the devil." Turns out, Robertson knows something about making deals with the devil: Former Liberian…
The earthquake in Haiti is only the most recent in a series of catastrophes stretching back over two centuries.  It was not always like this.  Haiti, in fact, was once the most prosperous colony in the New World.  When it was a French colony, known as class="bc_2">St. Domingue ( also called The…

Fundamentalists are ultraconservatives. Their exegesis is very wild. There is too much imagination. I think that they are as irrational and anti-intellectual as tertullian conservatives in St. Augustine´s time.

Apparently official Venezualan TV was claiming that the earthquake was caused by a new American weapon. I don't speak Spanish, so I haven't gone looking for it on the web - a Venezualan friend passed this titbit on.

Pat Robertson don´t know at all Haiti´s history. The people of Haiti were slaves and they rebel against it. They beat french and british army in they own independence war. This old superpowers revenge it by boicoting Haiti. That´s why Haiti is so poor. Slavery is crime against humanity.
