One year ago today, Uncertain Principles went live on ScienceBlogs. In honor of the anniversary, here's the first year at the new site, in one graph: Well, ok, that's not that informative. In fact, for all you know, that could be an NMR trace from a chem experiment-- the little bump to the right…
It occurs to me that if you take the Super Bowl as a comment on the current state of the US of A-- which, you might as well, because it's as good as anything else-- we are totally screwed. I mean, consider the fact that two-thirds of the ads were for Bud Light. OK, that may be a slight exaggeration…

Hey! How'd a dorky-looking guy like you snag such a hot babe?

Eh, I should probably keep my mouth shut, before people start asking me the same thing. Congratulations!

The facial expressions in that picture are rather amusing. "You think this was a good idea?" "Yeah, probably... let's go eat some cake." Congrats!

Congratulations!

That's a lovely photo of two happy and handsome and smart people.

"Eh, anybody can do five years. Ten years is the real test!"

Well, from personal experience: anybody can do ten years. 21 years is the real test!

I had a great-aunt and great-uncle who were married a very long time. I was their 60th wedding anniversary reception, at a private New York club. I asked my great-aunt what it was like to be married to the same man for 60 years.

She said, with a wink: "He's NOT the same man!"

I assumed that this was not about infidelity or cloning, but a reminder that we all change over time.

Congrats again; I look forward to seeing another photo on this blog in another 5 years.

Happy anniversary!
