Now We Are Three (Months)

It's SteelyKid's three-month birthday! One quarter of a year, already. To celebrate, she shows off her developmental progress:

Within the last week or so, she's finally grasped the idea that the larger world consists of objects that she can interact with. Just this week, she's begun to reliably grab the hanging animals in her little play gym thing. She can even get two at once:

This may not seem like that big a step to non-parents, but it's a huge deal, because it greatly increases the length of time that she can amuse herself. I don't need to sit there and shake the hanging monkey around-- she can grab it and shake it herself.

In principle, this frees me to do other things with my time. In practice, I sit there and watch her grab toys, because it's so darn cute.

(Emmy is disgusted by the whole sappy spectacle.)

It's been over a month since I did a photo-a-day post, largely because I haven't been taking many pictures for a variety of reasons. I do still mean to get a year's worth of good photos done, but the "daily" part has completely disintegrated at this point. As a way of getting somewhat back on…
A lot of heavy blogging this week, so here's a cute kid picture (as the featured image; click through if you're reading via RSS). This is SteelyKid and The Pip at play this morning, when they were back and forth across the yard a dozen times to pick up rocks from our gravel path and throw them into…
It's been a while since I've done an official Baby Jane update. In fact, I don't think I've done a proper one since I migrated over from the old site! Time flies. So, what is Baby Jane (now Toddler Jane, I guess) up to these days? Basically, it can be summed up in three areas: Movement,…
Thursday was a travel day, the less said about which the better. So, while I do have a couple of cell-phone snaps from the day, I'm just going to ignore it, and give you two better photos from Friday and Saturday. These go nicely together, as you can see in the composite that's the "featured image…
