Thursday Substitute Parent Blogging 011410

Kate here:

Since Chad's out of town, you get Substitute Parent Blogging today. It's with my non-DSLR camera (and also taken very fast before she decided she wanted the camera more than what she had), it's with something other than Appa, and it's eloquent of "I miss Daddy and want to be just like him."

I sometimes get comments asking why so many of the baby blogging pictures are taken from above. The answer is twofold: 1) I'm rather tall, and thus it's hard for me to get down to baby level to take pictures straight on, and 2) when I do try to get down to baby level, most of the pictures come out…
Today is the official release date for the paperback edition of How to Teach Physics to Your Dog, so I wanted to write up something cool about quantum physics to mark the occasion. I looked around the house for inspiration, and most of what we have lying around the house is SteelyKid's toys. Thus,…

I bet once a month or so with Appa would be adequate for keeping track of scale. This is a wonderful picture! More like this, please!

You have followed the best maxim I know for taking good pictures of people: Give your subject something to do.

Best wishes, as always,
Elizabeth (whom you don't know from Eve, but who loves Thursday Baby Blogging)

Daddy is "Appa" (or more closely "Apba") in Korean.

Silly Mommy. Without the gloves, her hands aren't big enough to palm the ball.

"Appa" means daddy in most Indian languages too.
