So Good: Kids Discuss Doug Bruce

This is too funny. My Mom sent this to me.

I don't know if people outside Colorado know who Doug Bruce is. He is this anti-tax activist from Colorado Springs who championed what is called the TABOR amendment -- an amendment that limits the ability of the Colorado state government's ability to raise taxes or increase spending. Anyway, he is extreme to say the least, and he was just elected into the CO State House of Representatives.

So when he is being sworn in, he kicks a photographer for taking a picture of him while he is praying at the beginning of the ceremony. Everyone was kind of bewildered by this, and it looks like his fellow Republicans are going to find a way to show him the door.

Anyway, this is the best. It is an interview with several preschoolers asking their opinions about Bruce's behavior:

Just as the Colorado Springs Republican was letting loose on Manzano's knee Monday morning, 4-year-olds at the Bright Star Learning Center were reading a "Berenstain Bears" book about forgetting their manners. The story made such an impression that, during circle time Tuesday, they offered advice to the lawmaker 53 years their elder.

"Use your words, not your body," said Madison Dixon.

Kai Labbe suggested Bruce may need "to take five with Freddy Frog." That would entail sitting on a beanbag in the corner of the classroom and discussing his outburst with a stuffed green amphibian.

"And while he's sitting," Kai added, "he shouldn't be able to play with toys, either. (Emphasis mine.)

Read the whole thing.

Ha! Play nice all you politicians, or you have to take five with Freddy Frog.

More like this

I'm from Colorado, and I have a four-year-old, and reading this made me laughed so hard that I cried.

Doug Bruce should take five with Freddy Frog for what he's done to Colorado already, even without kicking photographers.

He was not elected! He was appointed by El Paso County Republican leaders to fill an empty republican seat as a state representative. Even the conservative Republicans in the Colorado legislature are embarrassed by his behavior
