What do you do if you are the mother of two young children, have an academic spouse, and have just been denied tenure because of what appears to be upper-level university politics?

It sounds like some sick joke, right?

Only it's not. It's the situation that MommyProf finds herself in this weekend. Give her some sympathy and outrage.

Apparently Purdue and Mystery U coordinate their "overwhelm the new faculty" schedule. Had lunch with the provost this week. Take home message: time would have been better spent bringing in oodles of grant money. Avoid desert.
Though it seems like I've been with Seed for an eternity, I've actually only been here for three months. I'm pretty excited to be joining some of the ScienceBloggers at ScienceOnline09, but must admit I am a tad nervous about giving a presentation to a whole room of them.
