Sorry for slight blogging...

... as I'm sick. And swamped. And sick. And traveling again both this weekend, and next weekend. And last weekend. Did I mention I'm sick?

In better news, the bobcat guy flattened our backyard, so it's flat now from the geothermal installation, and looks like it has potential for gardening. A cheering thought. My good friend and colleague Donna Riley is visiting Purdue today (and giving this seminar), and dinner with her and a group of other folks is promised on another colleague's porch (it's going to be 70ºF!).

So that counterbalances a bit the sickness and swampedness. A little. :-)

(And I thought, without the teaching this semester, that my semester end wouldn't be completely insane. What was I thinking?!?)

More like this

It seems obvious that workers with paid sick leave are more likely to stay home and seek out medical care when they or a family member is ill. But it’s always good to confirm a hunch with some solid data.
As paid sick leave policies gain momentum across the country, a new study finds that such policies do indeed improve worker morale and have little overall effect on employer profitability.
This game looks like it is way too much fun.
A key argument in the movement to expand sick leave to all workers is that such policies help curb the spread of contagious diseases.

I hope you are feeling better soon. I think many of us plan too much to do during our non-teaching periods. Maybe teaching forces us to actually more realistically evaluate our ability to get things done.
