RBOC: New Scientiae edition!

i-f875c0b07d9b3cb6229668554781b35a-alice.jpgOMG, has it been a busy few days. I'm just starting the second shift of working today, after an 8-5:30 day of back-to-back meetings, and tomorrow will be all day in a workshop, but I need to share some updatey things, including a belated announcement for the October Scientiae (yay!) below the fold.

  • Jen at Deliberate Pixel has had a tough month, but is going to pull out all the stops to get us an October Scientiae carnival. Get your posts in by Friday on anything or the theme "being a good example even in a misstep" and she'll post the carnival this weekend. Thanks, Jen!
  • Everyone is gearing up for ScienceBlogs participating in DonorsChoose 2008 and we are no exception. Watch for an announcement of our Donors Choose campaign coming up on Wednesday! (Updated 10/1: here's the link.
  • Steve Higgins of Of Two Minds and I hosted a 10^6 Comment party at Jupiter's Pizza in Champaign IL, and while Steve has the video camera and I can't vouch for the quality of the video, I have a couple of photos I hope to share soon. It was great meeting people - thanks to everyone who came out!
  • We did a couple of other fun things this weekend, and I want to share photos - just have to get to writing the post.

Okay, I gotta get back to work for a bit. Gotta draft a grant proposal that is due in 3 weeks, draft two agendas for meetings W and F, turn around an IRB proposal, send one grad student something she's been asking for for a week and I sent the wrong doc, modify an org chart that currently looks like a complete nightmare, and deal with some actually important email I've been avoiding because it's going to be hard to respond to. Cheerio!

The call for the next Scientiae carnival is out. The next edition will be ably hosted New Years day at hreidoplus.de by Jokerine. She'll need your posts by December 31st and is open to lots of ideas: "the last year in review...new years resoltuions....(woman in science) party trivia...how…
Okay, so I finally updated our family blog with what has been going on behind the scenes here at Chez Nous, and I will share some of it with you, through the power of copy and paste and with only a modicum of overlap. Voila, I present to you my last two weeks (only some of which is work-related)!…
I'm just thrilled with our final numbers from our DonorsChoose campaign -- because of your generosity, $2953 are going to go help 1,126 needy kids learn some critically important science. And I'm also psyched that Sciencewomen came in second of all the Scienceblogs participating in both amount…
