A new research study published in the Archives of General Psychiatry revealed that people who were either physically abused or neglected or both when they were children have as much as a 75% chance of suffering from major depression when they reach adulthood; Physically abused and neglected children are much more likely to grow into severely depressed adults, a finding that researchers said points to an urgent need to test abused children for depression early on. The Caloosahatchee is said to straddle the Plio-Pleistocene boundary, which, according to the Geological Society of America Geological Time Scale, occurs at 1.8 Myr. A group of wild turkeys tried to make a break out of town yesterday afternoon. The turkeys were spotted with the New Jersey transit surveillance cameras standing on the platfom at Ramsey, which is approximately 20 miles northeast of New York City, appearing to be waiting for the train (above). "For a moment, it looked like the turkeys were waiting for the next outbound train," said Dan Stessel, a spokesman for NJ Transit. "Clearly, they're trying to catch a train and escape their fate." Why Did Alex the Parrot Die? The Last Word

The pathology tests are finally back regarding the sudden death of Alex the Congo African Grey parrot. Alex died quickly. He had a sudden, unexpected catastrophic event associated with arterosclerosis ("hardening of the arteries"). It was either a fatal arrhythmia, heart attack or stroke, which caused him to die suddenly with appparently no suffering. There was no way to predict his demise. All of his tests, including his cholesterol level and aspergillosis levels, came back normal earlier that week.
