New Reader Poll: Computer Science?

This week, Jane of See Jane Compute considered the question: Is computer science really a science? She wrote:

The more I thought about it, the more I realized how complex this question really is...Computer science is in many respects a tool. It's a discipline that has its reach into many other disciplines. And that's one of the coolest, most interesting things about it. But that's also what makes it so hard to classify, to quantify.

A week or so ago, I was telling Mr. Jane about a dream I had. In the dream, one of my colleagues had found my blog, but was totally cool with it---gushing over it, telling me I should "definitely include it in your tenure packet", and offering to go to the chair and let him in on the secret.
Dear Extended Jane Family, We here at Jane Family headquarters are so appreciative of the love and affection you have for and share with Baby Jane. You are all so thoughtful, and generous, and loving, that it really overwhelms us sometimes.
I told this story during a real poker game the other day and thought someone might find it amusing to write about it here. The story took place on my first trip to Vegas, about 10 years ago. We were staying at Treasure Island and back then, Treasure Island had a poker room, which is now gone.
