not fun at all

The logo for the London Olympics, that is. Or maybe "the powerful, modern emblem symbolises the dynamic Olympic spirit and its inspirational ability to reach out to people all over the world".
From the grauniad, the paper copy even: the US military are posting their war on youtube: MNFIRAQ (the one I watched was this). I find this completely weird and disturbing. And it certainly doesn't look like the end of combat operations. Can it be long before we end up with live feeds from helmet cameras, and then probably online voting for "should he pull the trigger"? and some sort of merge with online gaming. I'm too old for this. Retirement beckons me...
Well yes indeed, but in this particular case I'm referring to the funding for the Natural Environment Research Council, which has been cut in order to help pay for the govts failed attempt to rescue the Rover car company; and rescuing the nuclear industry. Or so says the BBC - all I know for sure is that we've lost £10M. Which is less than some of the other reseach councils.
Or, perhaps more politely, 'National interest' halts arms corruption inquiry. From the grauniad article: A major criminal investigation into alleged corruption by the arms company BAE Systems and its executives was stopped in its tracks yesterday when the prime minister claimed it would endanger Britain's security if the inquiry was allowed to continue. Terrible story from todays guardian: Killing themselves was unnecessary. But it certainly is a good PR move. Oddly enough I don't see this in the blogosphere... maybe because there isn't much else to say. Or people are too busy with the football?
