Former GOP AG Stovall endorses Democrat Paul Morrison:
"There is a time for partisan loyalty. And there is a time to take a principled stand. Now is that time and I stand with Paul Morrison," said Stovall.
She added: "For two decades, Paul has conducted himself and run his office in a dignified and professional manner. He is a no-nonsense, straight arrow kind of law enforcement officer with an inner moral compass that is unquestioned."
This follows the endorsement by another Republican former AG, one who actually had worked for Kline. Add in sinking poll numbers and a rebuke by a victims' rights group founded by a former Kline employee, and we can start to think happy thoughts about November.

Philll Kline to investigate AG Morrison's alleged improprieties.
I must say that I don't see Kline's logic here. Morrison may well have done something wrong, and if so, his enemies' best move would be to sit back and let him fall apart on his own, and to force the Democratic governor to follow…
Though observers had thought Kansas AG Paul Morrison was digging in to fight for his reputation, he announced his resignation today, effective January 31. Kathleen Sebelius will name his successor.

While she couldn't block Phill Kline's selection as District Attorney, Governor Sebelius didn't have to sign the paper granting him the post. At the time when the selection by GOP officials took effect, the governor said:

While Presidential gamesmanship is all the rage, with even Kansas trying to move its primaries earlier to get a bite of that apple, major moves are under way lower down on the ballot.

I hope, I hope, I hope you're right about happy thoughts in November. But a nagging part of me fears that the ruling Republicans are not going to let a little thing like election results rob them of their grip on power. If both houses of Congress go to the Democrats, isn't there a real risk of impeachment proceedings to begin? And I can't believe those in power are going to let that possibility happen. The worry lingers.
