In many ways, my career has been dominated by efforts to make "work" bear as much resemblance to "having fun" as possible. Today's article only confirms that rule. Yesterday afternoon, I spent an hour watching a World Cup soccer match, and for once I could claim that it was completely relevant to…
Most of the world will be watching today's Champions League final between Manchester United and Barcelona, one of the most eagerly anticipated finals in recent memory. I'm picking ManU to win 3-2. Messi doesn't match up well against the bigger, tougher Premier League squads and look for Ronaldo to…
How can I say this? I'm happy for Gli Azzurri, but life isn't perfect. The day started off superbly. Having won a bet on the Italy-German semifinal, we had an incredible brunch on Veit's roof deck in Beacon Hill. (Thanks Veit, we need to have more bets!) On the menu: smoke salmon, croissants, eggs…
First, check out this Washington Post article explaining that the "FDA Is Set To Approve Milk, Meat From Clones." Second, note that there's a symposium being held in DC tomorrow, "Animal Biotechnology: Considering Ethical Issues," sponsored by the Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology and…

In all fairness, taking into account the quality of the opposition and the importance of the game (World Cup Quarter Final), Maradona's goal is probably the best ever.

You will probably find a dozen goals as good as Messi's scored over the years, but I think Maradona's will not be surpassed for a long time.

I'm sorry, but I've never liked Maradona's goal so much. I think both goals are examples of defensive meltdown primarily. The goalkeepers offered no challenge at all, either.

The Maradona goal is particularly well analyzed in England who lost the match due to this - and of course the 'hand of God' goal. There big debate over the former goal is whether it was actually an own goal scored by Terry Butcher, the defender that slides in at the last second (he denies it, but then again he would, wouldn't he).
