Sights and Sounds from the Montreal Jazzfest

We spent the weekend up in Montreal where we caught some of the many shows at the Jazz Fest. If you've never been, here's what you're missing:

That's Marsh Dondurma from Israel - a friend of ours has a cousin in the band. Below the fold, I posted a couple of other clips from that same set.

Another band worth mentioning to you is Nomo. I wasn't able to record 'em due to the lack of memory in my camera and the level of alcohol in my blood - here's a vid from Youtube:

And you might be wondering, what type of person goes to the Montreal Jazzfest? Here's some examples:

As the day turn to night we set out to eat & drink on St Denis and then on St Lawrence ... it was all a big haze ... we capped off the night at 3AM with a trip to Fairmount for bagels, the best in the world ... I miss Montreal.

Over all a great weekend. Now I just need a two day vacation to recover from the trip.

I wrote earlier about a particularly dumb argument against global warming--the argument that an unusually cold day shows that global warming just isn't happening.
I don't have the time right now to do this justice, so I'll just lay out the story over the last year or so and let you, faithful reader, follow the thread. This is an amazing story.
It is interesting how different corners of the world are preoccupied by unique items of interest.
Every morning when I get up and get on the computer, the first thing I do is delete the pile of spam from Dennis Markuze, each of which is usually cross-posted to 50 to 100 other people.

I work in an RNA lab here in Montreal, so I made frequent trips to Place des Arts. I must say, those pictures are great, but I don't think any pictures can quite do that crowd justice; Montreal's craziness is a multisensorial experience.
