A couple of weeks ago, Linda Wang from C&E News contacted me about my post on pipette tip usage methods (with a little side note on the Jesus Gel incident). Apparently the article came out August 20th and since then I've received emails containing people's pipette box artwork. If I get my act together I'll try to post a compilation of photos and testimonials.

Apparently, it's an eppendorf pipette. If you aren't a science nerd, an eppendorf pipette is one of the ubiquitous tools of molecular biology — it's a calibrated gadget for dispensing minute quantities of liquids.
Being a deep-sea biologist is not all riding around in a wetsuit in a zodiac chasing down giant squid at 30 knots. Sometimes I have to pipette giant squid samples for DNA analysis. All that pipetting can give me a vicious thumb cramp. Wouldn't it be nice if someone could do it for me!
