Well I finaly synthesized and purified the magic protein.

Yesterday I used this protein in an experiment that was dictated to me by the ghost of Ockham. I should know the result this afternoon.

This is prompted by two emails. Both from good friends. Email #1 is from a friend who got Shingles, I think - (hope you get better, we'll all drink to your health Saturday during food-orgy ... I mean bookclub). The second email I received yesterday from a friend down in NYC asking me if I was still…
Wow, last week was memorable. Not only did I sign my contract with the University of Toronto, but it appears as if my super duper theory that I thought I had killed, might have been resuscitated. To remind you, the last time I wrote about my trials and tribulations, I thought that I had ruled out…
Industry-sponsored articles in medical journals are likely to be ghost-authored. Most often, data analysis is conducted by a person not listed among the study's authors. New study explores why people believe conspiracy theories. Or so "they" want you to believe. Stanford Prison Experiment on…
(Image credit: William Ormerod/ Unversity of Wisconsin-Madison) A recent study into the biophysical properties of a highly reflective and self-organizing squid protein called reflectin will inform researchers about the process of "bottom-up" synthesis of nanoscale structures and could lead to the…

So which one is your protein of interest, the higher molecular weight doublet or the larger band of low molecular weight protein?

The low one. It's a bit contaminated with that upper doublet, but if you consider that the bottom band has a lower MW and thus a higher mole/mass ratio then it's not so bad. Probably 95% pure.

More pure. Less magic.
