PF#2, as originally introduced.
PF#2, the follow-up.
The answer was "Mercury" (and we still relish the chance to find that middle puzzle-making ground, between Monday crossword too easy and Sunday crossword too hard).
The Queen goes to Queen the band goes to Freddy Mercury.
The instruments go to temperature go to Mercury.
The number sequence goes to the number of moons for each planet, from the farthest out, to, yep ("..."), Mercury.

What we have here is an escalation in the nature of the PF. Phase Two of PF#2 is now upon us. Because PF#2 has been solved.
But which solution is it?
(Ever looking for "D")
The first Puzzle was a game, a set of clues to see how people think through evidence, and to see which directions thoughts…
Today's big science news is the Messenger flyby of Mercury. The Messenger spacecraft is scheduled to do a flyby of the planet about four hours from now, en route to it's final destination - Mercury - which it will reach in 2011, after completing additional flybys of the planet Mercury in October,…
I remember in the last couple years, it was announced that Paul Rodgers was going to join Queen to replace Freddy Mercury. Jon Rowe and Jason Kuznicki both posted on it, with Jon being mildly cautious about it and Jason calling the idea "insane". I recall at the time thinking that Jason was closer…
"Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.
Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink." -Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Hmmm...At the risk of immodesty, don't I get at least partial credit for originally suggesting mercury?
I think that mercury for mirrors makes just as much sense as Freddy Mercury does. Is the answer only correct if one arrives at it via your original intent?
I'm not sure I understand the moon reference. The number of moons in our Solar system is pretty variable, depending on where you draw the line. The 210 makes sense, but the preceding numbers seem arbitrary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moons
Duly noted. Things are a little hectic this week, but we will definitely work on a "special" AlanM badge as well. The moon one, we thought was kind of cool. It actually reads:
13|27|56|63|2|1|0 ... to mercury
Alan, You're right, you do deserve credit...and I bet you could confab with Dave about your badge's design. He's game with that kind of stuff.
Wow! My own merit badge.
You do not know what this means to someone who flunked out of Cub Scouts (never could get into all that saluting).
Thanks for the puzzle. Looking forward to the late spring...
