A little late for pi

Janet tagged all of us new SBers with a mathematically themed meme. I put off answering this long mostly because I have a massive aversion to math - that's why I went into evolutionary genetics. I'm also not a big fan of the whole self-reflection thing. It makes me think too much. But I'm also easily victimized by peer pressure, so here it goes:

Three reasons that I blog about science:
1: Science is cool, and I don't think enough people appreciate that.
2: Writing helps me organize my thoughts.
3: Fundamentally, I am a science geek at heart, and I don't know what else I could blog about.

Point at which I would stop blogging:
When it interferes with my family life.

One thing I blog about besides science:
Culture-war type politics

Four words that describe my blogging style:
I'm really tempted to chicken out on this one. I know what I try for; I don't know if I manage to hit it.
1: Opinionated (of course. This is a blog, after all.)
2: Reasonable.
3: Informative
4: Engaging

One aspect of blogging that I find difficult:
Maintaining the motivation to keep a regular posting tempo going.

Five ScienceBlogs that are new to me:
1: Chaotic Utopia
2: Terra Sigillata
3: Pure Pedantry
4: The Island of Doubt
5: Dynamics of Cats

Nine blogs I read that aren't found here:
As hard as this is to admit, I'm a hardcore science geek, and most of my blogroll is here now.
1: Red State Rabble
2: The Panda's Thumb
3: Big Dumb Chimp
4: The Austringer

Two important features of my blogging environment:
1: Laptop (MacBook Pro)
2: WiFi (Mine or mooched, I'm not proud.)

Six things I'd bring to a meet-up with other ScienceBloggers:
1: Beer money
2: Camera
3: Maxilla and Mandible T-Shirt
4: Notebook
5: Pen
6: Bookbag (OK, I wimped out on those last three.)

Five conversations I'd like to have at the meet-up:
1: With Wilkins - again - about species, speciation, and how I can get him to do a chunk of my dissertation why a collaboration would be mutually beneficial.

2: With Ed about first ammendment fun and games.

3: With Chris and/or Carl about how to get better at this writing thing. (If everyone else doesn't beat me to it.)

4: With Orac, both for fun and writing help.

5: With John about evolutionary biology.

Hey, if I help you with your dissertation, do I get a cut of the PhD? I could use another half a science PhD as mine was jointly with science and arts. Then I'd get a real science job, which is where the big bucks are, right?

Greetings and congrats from your Southern cousin!
The honorable Sally told me about your blog success and directed me this way. I'm glad someone's keeping it real, and sticking it to The Man. Love to see some posts about artificial climate change, if you get a chance.
Keep in touch!
