3) Come back and finish your thesis.

I think Art Garfunkel completed a Masters in Mathematics (but he's not exactly rock).
Bruce. I know about Greg Graffin, who is the vocalist of Bad Religion. He got a PhD in zoology from Cornell and now is a lecturer at UCLA.
