How to Think About Science

CBC has started a series of interviews (later available as podcasts) with scientists and others about the nature of science, the public undrestanding of science and related issues. I listened to the first interview with Simon Schaffer (with particular interest because the book in question, co-authored with Steven Shapin, is on my reading list for my candidacy exams) and found that it raised some very intriguing and important issues about how we understand how science works and why this doesn't at all relegate science to being just another way of looking at the world, on equal footing with, say, astrology.
