Okay, this made me laugh. Eugene Volokh posted what was obviously a very sarcastic response to the Iraqi election noting that the 72% turnout was a 28% drop from the 100% turnout in the last election in which Saddam Hussein was reelected and asked, "Why isn't the media pointing this out?" The next day he received the following email from an obviously not-too-bright correspondent:
Let me guess? Your (sic) a bleedy (sic) hear (sic) Democrap. I am sure the last election in Iraq had a higher turn out because if thet (sic) did not vote they were tortured, murdered or put in jail maybe we should try that here in America? Your a JUTZ! (sic) GET A LIFE YOU STINKING LIBERAL!
Anyone who has ever spent any time in a political chatroom will recognize both the mentality and the writing style, which are the modus operandi of what HL Mencken once called the booboisie. All the telltale signs are there. Inability to distinguish "your" from "you're"? Check. The juvenile fascination with vaguely insulting terms for the opposition ("Democrap", though it could just as easily be "demoncrat" or any number of others quasi-clever terms)? Check. Inability to understand the basics of punctuation? Check. Use of the word "liberal" (or more commonly just "lib") as an epithet? Check.
I don't know if other nations have a comparable sub-population, but America seems to be nearly overrun with them. As a group, they are stunningly ignorant, but completely oblivious to that fact. They are the perfect combination of smugness and stupidity, and they actually do think that the world is as simple as their notions about it. Such people are simply incapable of thinking outside of the simple dichotomy of Us vs "libs", an entirely catchphrase driven thought process. These are the people who fall for meaningless phrases like "judicial activism" and "feminazis" and think they actually correspond to something in the real world. They think that they're thinking, but all they're really doing is rearranging a few carefully chosen buzzwords. Thankfully, they have a real talent for making absolute fools out of themselves by saying things as idiotic as the email posted above, and doing so in public. And you can't really write comedy any better than that.

AND... if it weren't for these types, Rush, Hannity, Dobson, et al. would be out of business.
Definitely puts the 'sub' back in 'sub-population.'
Your nuts, Ed. Its just all hypocracy from the DemoKKKrat Libs.
someone who fits the description called me a Fascist Communist once, o.0
Good for a laugh but bad for a government!
The Church of the SubGenius has a term for those people who are both stupid and ignorant (and proud of it). They are called "po'buckers."
In case we need a short label. "Moronic brownshirt f***s" takes too long.

Sure they do. In France, people like these vote for the National Front. The only difference is that our National Front is merely a wing of the Republican Party.
Volokh points out that the guy wrote him to apologize the next day.

Yes, but I don't think you can really apologize for stupidity.
Before you get too carried away, you have to remember that an unknown % of people like that, especially in chatrooms, are doing it for the fun of it.
It's the character they play in order to troll.
But yeah, there are people like that.
*shudders*
Don't hold back, Ed; let us know how you really feel! ;-)
UK: "The only difference is that our National Front is merely a wing of the Republican Party."
I think that at this point its more like we have a National Front called the Republican Party, with a wing of Republicans.
Ed,
It's all very funny, but for one little thing:
They Vote.
