Just had an earthquake here. I'll post the USGS data on it when I have it.
UPDATE: Preliminary estimates put the magnitude at 4+. And more than 1000 people filed reports within about 10 minutes of the shaking.

OK, I don't actually believe in earthquake weather, but it was really hot today and the house just shook. (I could see the shaking as well as feel it.)

Grrr. Jealousy. I slept through the only earthquake I was ever close enough to to feel (or rather, I half woke up and convinced myself that I was dreaming).

I thought my solutions were all shaking. Then GC called me and said "we just had an earthqauke." Then I put two and two together. I filed a report too!
We did? Huh. I was dead to the world, and my cats clearly didn't give a crap. I am NOT well-trained in these things.
Probably not enough to impress Uncle Fishy, but enough to cause me concern for the West Coast contingent. Hopefully it will be an isolated event.

Recent earthquakes in California-Nevada
Sigh. I live in the Bay Area for 2.5 years now, and never felt an earthquake. I should have felt this one, but missed it again. I live ca. 15 miles from the centre.

Didn't register here at my little nexus of 94062, but the house is on a ridge of what passes for bedrock here.
Funny earthquake story from (I think) 1982: I was working in Santa Clara and was on the phone with a colleague in Fremont. She gasped, "An earthquake! A big one!" I had time to say, "Nonsense, probably a big truck" and then "Oh my! The cars in the parking lot are doing the hula!"
I slammed the phone down and booked out of the building -- old, and not yet retrofitted.
Some books bounced off of shelves and so on, but the building's owner got more motivated about retrofitting after that.
