Lehigh's Got Cash

The Lehigh University Department of Biological Sciences was awarded $1.8 million by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to fund undergraduate education. No word if Michael Behe will use any of the money to fund his gigantic research program in intelligent design.

Look, everyone! The Lehigh University biology department is hiring! I wonder if they're searching for a "design theorist" to complement their eminent Professor Behe… ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Evolutionary Biology The Department of Biological Sciences seeks candidates with outstanding research that…
Welcome to the club, Chris Mooney... Chris Mooney is the author of the excellent book, The Republican War on Science. He examines big hot-button scientific issues of the day such as global warming, stem cell research, and, of course, evolution. It's a polemic, to be sure, but a well-researched one…
Note: As Larry Moran rightly points out in the comments everything isn't all about putting out papers and us science bloggers should put out graphs of our own publication rates, as well. For my own part, I've contributed nothing so I couldn't even make a graph, but I know there has been some…
As I've discussed many times, the ID movement has changed its strategy regarding the policies they are advocating to be adopted by school boards and legislatures. They know that any hint of the phrase "intelligent design" is going to be struck down by the courts, especially in light of the Dover…

Doubtful. HHMI's been funding Lehigh's bio department for years (I had a small sub-grant for my undergrad research there in 1998-99) - but although this grant is bigger than usual, I don't think that he'll actually get a chunk of change from that. Afterall, the rest of the department has pretty much disavowed him; and I don't imagine that after all these years he'll become interested in writing a decent project proposal or carrying it out (why start now?).

Nah, I have a feeling that the handful of other biologists there will get the money, for real research.

I assume that HHMI would be interested in something that could actually be applied. What application is there for ID again?

Daniel--That's good to hear. What is Dembski's research program like, I wonder.

Also note: several of the Lehigh biology faculty members have personal statements up on their lab's websites. My favorite was Jill Schneider's.

Anyway, I gathered the links to their sites and put them up on my blog:
