Snowpocalypse!

Gosh, there sure is a lot of snow out there!

Update (1:00 am): Whoo hoo! My street just got plowed. God bless taxes!

I just had an interesting weekend. On Thursday I found out that one of my favorite political organizations, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, was having a little meet-up for bloggers in Washington D.C. Washington? Gosh, that's just a short ride from my digs in Harrisonburg…
My alma mater is number one! Whoo hoo!
While practicality is one of the tools in my arsenal against anti-science advocates, its not my favorite. Maybe its because I am a delicate female with doe-eyes and sweet sensitivities, but my favorite weapon is emotion. I tell you what, its damn hard to talk to the general public (much less…
Check it out: Self-medication may be the reason the blogosphere has taken off. Scientists (and writers) have long known about the therapeutic benefits of writing about personal experiences, thoughts and feelings. But besides serving as a stress-coping mechanism, expressive writing produces many…

Back in '93 there was a storm up I-81 that closed the school for two days, mostly 'cause nobody was there - it came on the saturday at the end of spring break and many were stuck at their ski resorts in PA and NY (or even Canada). The back door to (Miller Hall) MG-30, a full flight down, was completely full of snow all the way to ground level. That was the worst that had ever hit the school while I was there. This is, the 4th worst DC storm since I lived here.

We have close to 20 inches just outside of DC. In and of itself its not the end of the world (at least for transplants from upstate new york), but an inch of snow here causes havoc so there's great potential for disaster :P

We got around 16 inches down here in Roanoke. It has quite the paralyzing effect in the south, unlike anything I ever saw in Chicago. Worse yet, they tainted the TV broadcast of "Elf" last night with a "church closings" banner.

Oh, and when you post blasphemous snowfall updates you might want to wear your flame-retardant asbestos suit to protect against the GOATS ON FIRE!

The best snowstorm I ever saw was a few miles south of you, in Bridgewater, around 1966; we got about two feet of snow, but the wind pushed it into six-foot drifts in the cow pasture (now, IIRC, a Bridgewater College parking lot) across the road. It was wonderful -- at least, to a seven-year-old; I doubt if the adults who had to drive in it were as happy as I was.

wow . ok. well about my experience teh worst snowfall i witnesed was that i was in asia -Pakistan - Murree (A beautiful hill Resort) and bad luck was that after ten years there was a terrifying snow storm. 10 feet snow in first day. whole houses were covered with snow and also cars. well my vacation trip to view beautiful nature was turned to a terrifying one.
