I was going to write a real barn burner of a post about the big election, but then I came across this:
Folks, sometimes you just have to focus on the good things in life.

I mentioned that one of the things I've been doing for the last little while is preparing for ADVANCE-Purdue's first-year site visit, which we had on Friday March 27. This is the first year NSF has been doing first year site visits for ADVANCE, and considering we've only been funded since October…
One of the many problems with the essay discussed in yesterday's post is that it was poorly written. Finnis and George seemed to go out of their way to be as unclear as possible, frequently choosing tortured, ambiguous phrasings when clearer options were readily at hand. This is something of an…
Yes, I know it's Monday. But it's still Sunday Chess Problem. Deal with it.
One more from the files of Milan Vukcevich for you. This problem was published in 1994 and calls for selfmate in five:
Recall that in a selfmate, white plays first and tries to force black to give mate in no more than…
Yes there are Nixon-Trump similarities. But in the end, probably not many. (A lot of Congresspersons boycotted his second inaugural, by the way). Also, for those who are not familiar with Watergate, I'll tell you this: The medium to worst case scenario of Trump's election, which would include…
Like the fact that the entire original series is available on DVD [grin].
Turning him into the annoying, arrogant wunderkind really doesn't work for me. He looks too young to be established and doesn't show the quiet confidence of the original, instead showing arrogance and that he thinks he's "cool". This ... does not look promising, at least to me.
I agree. Richard Dean Anderson was perfectly cast as the original MacGyver. I'm skeptical of Lucas Till, and I'm not too sure about the way new MacGyver is written. But I'll give it a chance!
They should have used the opportunity to showcase some diversity. Who wouldn't want to see a black latina lesbian quadriplegic as MacGyver?
"This video is not available." :)
Honestly I always thought MacGyver was basically "A Team-lite" when it originally aired, and even the A Team hasn't really aged well. If they have to revitalise an old 80s show, might I offer instead Quantum Leap as an alternative?
