Saw Ratatouille today. Never once checked the time. Very good film. So far Yahoo Movie critics & users give it an A-, and it seems like it'll win the box office. Much recommended (Pixar animation is the bomb obviously, but the story is really good and could only be told in a non-live action context for obvious reasons). This is a movie whose target audience are children and foodies, so definitely a strange and surprising beast. A flavor you won't forget.

And if so, will it make us even stupider? Only one more week until we find out! This could be the datahead's ideal engine:
It'll tell you the family, genus, species, and caloric value of an apple, and it'll forecast Apple's stock price, but it won't give you apple pie recipes. It'll tell you the…
Time for lighter fare. There are some really good movies out there...
Warning: A few minor spoilers ahead.
First up, of course, is The Dark Knight. Superhero movies just keep getting better and better, but this one is going to be hard to top. It's two and a half hours long, but I wanted to go…
[I am totally confused. I have not seen the movie Source Code, although it will be playing in Morris next week, yet I have now seen an explanation of the time-travel paradox in the movie by the physicist James Kakalios, and now here is an explanation by an English professor. You guys sort it out. I…
Nobody officially "tagged" me for this, but I saw it at Easily Distracted, and it seems like a good post topic for the Friday before Christmas. The idea is to pick one movie title for each letter of the alphabet.
The list below the fold is not an attempt to come up with Great Films for each letter…
The lines are so long, I'll have to wait a couple of days.
I stupidly gave my kids a choice of what movie they wanted to watch this weekend, and they chose Fantastic Four over this. Obviously they don't read the reviews. :)
Tara,
The redneck seep is so insidious. Fight it now, while you still can.
Pixar always surprises us with movies that are really out-of-the-box. Even if they are only animated, they show more humanity and heart than other "fantastic" movies, if you know what I mean. http://www.thenewsroom.com/details/453821/Entertainment?c_id=wom-bc-ar

"It's uncomfortable to watch rats; even animated ones, scurry around a kitchen"
That strikes me as missing the point, Alvin, since that uncomfortableness is precisely the problem the rat needs to overcome. I think it's a mark of a good production that the character must overcome the audience's own prejudices, as well as the antagonists' prejudices.

yep. and this is a "kids film," nor does the preachy element irritate or suffocate the film. this is good art. all the flavors are in balance and there isn't an aftertaste.
Saw the trailer, my jewdar went off the wall on seeing and hearing the main character. a good device, or no?
Note - I'm a Kingsley Amis anti-semite, as in I notice 'them', but wouldn't want anyone to do anything about it.

Oy. Are you trying to get yourself quoted in the ads?
Please don't say "worth the price of admission" or I'll lose all my resepct for you.
