Your Religion Is False

My friend Joel Grus has a book out which some readers might be interested in, Your Religion Is False. You can get it on Amazon. FYI, Joel is responsible for the banner on this weblog, which he cooked up in an hour in the spring of 2002.

Joel Grus, who was a blogger at Gene Expression in 2002, and who is responsible for the banner graphic, has a weblog up promoting his book Your religion is false! (But so is everyone elses.).
Tyler Cowen gives a positive review of Your Religion is False: In addition to its humor, I prefer the content of this book to the better-known "new atheist" tracts. Grus yields many of the strongest arguments. For instance the biographical and sociological correlates with belief (most people…

A friend of mine has a new weblog, Low Carb Art and Science, which some of you might be interested in (or not). I do think it is ironic since this is an individual who presumably is in favor of a diet of red beans & rice. If you want a more eclectic range of posts on diet you might want to…

A perusal of the website suggests that its author is not in fact an atheist, but a rather transparent Discordian.

And this negates his position? Discordians acknowledge all religions are false, especially their own. The best are but inadequate attempts to explain reality, the worst are metaphysical ponzi schemes. Sooner or later everyone suffers from attempts to improve it, or blatant attempts to make it suite the leadership better. In so far as all religions are ego trips for at least one segment of the membership, all religions are false.

Is my lifelong search for meaning at an end?

I imagine the readership of this blog (and related blogs pertaining to topics like evo-psych) are generally non-religious if not predominantly atheist/agnostic.

razib posted a survey a few months ago I think?

Making blanket statements about "what Discordians believe" is a waste of time. The memetic package (I hesitate to call it a 'religion') is not only paradoxical, but explicitly and intentionally so. Distinguishing someone who claims to be Discordian as a joke from someone who actually believes everything as presented is virtually impossible.
