The Gulf oil spill dwarfs comprehension, but we know this much: it's bad. Carl Safina scrapes out the facts in this blood-boiling cross-examination, arguing that the consequences will stretch far beyond the Gulf -- and many so-called solutions are making the situation worse.

Karl Giberson, editor of Science and Theology News, has an interesting commentary making the same argument I made during the Dover trial when Michael Behe insisted on comparing ID to big bang cosmology. He did it so often, in fact, that one morning when they were set to continue Behe's cross-…

On April 20th, when the Deepwater Horizon offshore oil rig exploded, eleven workers died. Since then thousands of Gulf Coast citizens have responded to the disaster. Few are professional clean-up workers, but these responders stepped forward rapidly to…
This talk is very moving :( I can't believe the government have put up barriers to the honest reporting of the spill. I have lost any respect I had for Obama, and as an English person with a deep deep hatred of GWB and everything he stood for or did over the 8 years of his two terms, that was fairly difficult to achieve.
I really hate humans sometimes. I mean seriously, I would really appreciate it if there were something for my children* to survive on - like this planet. I understand that there are a lot of selfish, greedy fucks out there who don't seem to give a shit about their own children and grandchildren. I just don't see why people who hate their children should be allowed to fuck it up for ours - or theirs. This kind of shit is like child abuse squared.
This was almost too painful to watch, just like the only other video I have watched about the spill. I have to depend on my anger over this, to keep from breaking down in tears and that is only doing so much at this point. So many people are being devastated by this and the numbers are just going to go up. I shudder to think how many have yet to feel it, because the critters they depend on that go through the gulf aren't due to arrive yet.
Fucking greedy goddamned humans.
*Your kids too, just to be clear.
Wonder why there is no news about this in my country
Wonder why there is no news about this in my country very nice
Those who are faulting the Obama admistration should start looking deeper into who to blame. No, I am not talking about OUR demand for fossil fuel as much as the business and their lackeys. Yes, that includes Clinton and heis support for doing away with Glass/Stengal law that prevented banks from doing what they did to cause our financial melt down. The drill baby drill mind set. Obama has to deal with what are know as blue-dog-demorcrats who are really Rebulicans in democratic clothing. As long as you elect people who are anti regulation this is what you will get.
