PZ is struck down, temporarily

If you haven't seen it, please check out this bit of dark comedy from PZ, who reveals that he will be undergoing unspecified probing and surgery. Medical science will be having its way with him over the next few days.

Go wish him well!

It's been a bad few days. A mere four days after Elizabeth Edwards announced that her breast cancer had recurred in her rib, with an update the other day saying that the apparently was also another lesion in in her hip, I learn from a commenter and multiple other sources that White House Press…
Over the years, I've frequently made the points that the vast majority of physicians are not scientists and, in fact, that many of them suffer from a severe case of Dunning-Kruger when it comes to science. Even going back to the very early history of this blog, you can find examples, the most…
Okay, I finally got to see the movie The Aristocats, a documentary about perhaps the most famous - and filthiest - joke ever told. First of all, I picked the wrong day to watch it. I have a terrible cold today and it's not very pleasant to be laughing that hard while coughing up chunks of phlegm…

Well, hopefully only temporarily. Success rates are incredible compared to 50 years ago, but it's still a far cry from getting a dose of antibiotics for a bacterial throat infection.

@sailor: I doubt they'll be giving PZ hallucinogenic drugs, so I think the hospital chaplain will be safe. Besides, it's usually at least 2 weeks before someone with their chest cut open is in any shape to go chasing people with needles and even then they need some serious doses of painkillers.

Traveling all over the place and grabbing odd bits of sleep in hotels and aeroplanes isn't good for anybody. I hope he looks after himself more from now on.

Yow! I hope it works out.

All my best wishes go to Mr PZ Myers. May he recover well, and hasten back into the ongoing battle against stupidity, ignorance and obscuranticism, in which he is a redoubtable warrior.

As Ali G, would put it "Restecp!"
