"I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out under another, then under another Democrat president, Jimmy Carter. I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence." (The swine-flu outbreak of 1976 occured when Gerald Ford -- a Republican -- was president.)

More like this

No one brings home the stupid the way Michelle Bachmann does: I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter. And I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence. In just the…
Minnesota's dimwitted gift to humanity, Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R--but did you have to ask?) had this to say regarding swine flu (H/T Steph Z): I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter. And I'm not blaming…
Keith Olbermann delivered a nice smackdown of empty-headed Minnesota representative Michelle Bachmann on last night's Countdown: The bronze to Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. We're all laughing at her historical gaffe yesterday about Jimmy Carter and swine flu. It turned out she topped herself…
The crazy lady of Minnesota politics has done it again. In case you don't actually want to see and hear this lunatic, here's what she says: I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter, and I'm not blaming this…

Remember the movie "Dumb and Dumber" - Michele Bachmann plays BOTH parts!

Greg,
Flu during Ford or Carter really doesn't matter. Never let facts get in the way of a good teabagger rant.

Mike,

The fact that "[who was President when the flu broke out] doesn't matter" is the point. OF COURSE it doesn't matter, since nobody CHOSE to have a flu outbreak, but the fact that her attempt to underhandedly accuse Democrats simultaneously gets the most important fact of the veiled attack wrong is characteristic of her dishonest, paranoid style.

That someone so blatantly either 1) idiotic, 2) dishonest, or 3) both had such an easy election and re-election speaks volumes of the party supporting her.

Actually Bachmann makes an excellent point. I would like to add that there were no nuclear bombs before women got the right to vote in the US.

(Think I got that from Sagan iirc)

There is so much stupid packed into this statement* that it has its own gravitational field. It went supernova in the first, uh, "sentence," and collapsed in on itself in the second. It's a black hole of stupid so massive that nothing can escape it, a vacuum of such magnitude that not even The Stupid can burn. Sarah Palin is sitting on her deck exclaiming, "I can see The Stupid from my house!"

How does this woman tie her shoes? Get dressed in the morning? How does she put on her diaper? How does she even function as a living organism? I've seen smarter creatures fly directly into a bug zapper.

I'm almost convinced that this level of stupidity is not innate but is cultivated by a carefully designed, highly disciplined daily regimen of willful, intentional practice. She has sculpted herself into the Venus de Milo, the Colossus of Rhodes - nay, the Great Wall - of stupid, stretching beyond the horizon and visible from space.

Bachmann wept because there was no more reason to abandon...

"What the fuck you talking about?" - The Dude

*Also, umm, HOLY FUCKING FUCK!!!

Did anyone else initially mistake that low-res chain round her neck for a photoshopped zombie-like throat-cut scar *solely because of her face and posture*?

You realize that contrary to common sense, the republicans actually find her useful, as stupid and dim-witted as she is. She actually makes all the other republican morons looks like Einsteins by comparison, and in their book, that's a good thing.

The important thing to not is that her voting record is almost exactly the same as the voting record of almost every other Republican in the house.
